Prime example of abuse by the NPS in the Saline Valley is the closure of the Jack Ass Flats road in the north end of the valley. Prior to the NPS closure of the road it was so hard to find and so infrequently traveled that if you did not know where to look you would drive right past. NOW they have bulldozed large burms of dirt and boulders infront of the road AND placed the all too common NPS fiberglass sign infront of the burms telling you that you cannot drive on this road. The NPS in this case caused far more destruction than ever would have been caused if it was just left open. I also miss the open toilets at the springs.
