I have used a Garmin eTrex Venture for work and recreation for about 3 years. Last winter, the display went bad. The unit is suppose to be weatherproof, and I keep it in a drybag when whitewater paddling. Regardless, I think that the moisture finally ruined it. It took a few tries but I got a repair number from Garmin. (Send a fax. Email don't work.) I sent the broken unit to Garmin and paid the repair fee (warranty expired), and within a 10 days I had a new replacement unit. It arrived just in time for my last trip to DVNP. Garmin even salvaged all my data. MENDO PAUL
